The NOBTS collection site for Operation Christmas Child brought in 10,231 shoeboxes filled with toys and gift items for children around the world during the Nov. 16-23 National Collection Week, said Dr. Lloyd Harsch, director of the NOBTS collection operation. Harsch noted that the number collected is more than last year’s total.
“We have continued to grow every year,” Harsch said.
A ministry arm of Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child (OCC) has collected and delivered more than 124 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in more than 150 countries and territories in its 22 years of operation, according to the OCC website.
The Greatest Journey, OCC’s follow-up program, is implemented through a global church network to help children learn how to know and follow Jesus. More than 4.7 million children have participated.
