Bride

The Ultimate Honor

By Rebecca Hiner

Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready. – Revelation 19:7

He bestows the ultimate honor upon you as He receives you as His beloved and treasured bride.

How easy is it for us to think of ourselves as unworthy of things that are wholesome and worthwhile? We as women are our own worst enemy. We beat ourselves up and condemn each other for the sins we ourselves commit in secret. What would it be like if we could somehow shake off the image of the perfect woman and stop comparing? What if we were bold enough to claim our true self….to be bigger than the version we think we should be in today’s society?

Let’s all just take a big sigh of relief together *breathe*! Now that would be absolutely liberating wouldn’t it? So if this is what we all really want, then why do we hold each other to such an unrealistic and unbiblical standard of perfection?

Christ speaks to us through His Word to reveal how we are to view ourselves and those around us. In Revelation, the final book of the Bible we see that the Father has loved us all along. (As if we don’t already know this, but it is so easy to forget!) We are reminded again that He views us as beautiful, precious and treasured brides. His love for us is so great and unfathomable. He is coming back for us. He very well could leave us all to wallow in our sin, but because of the unfailing promises that were made in the beginning we have hope. Hope that we are redeemed in this life in spite of our filth. Hope that we will soon see His face and will dwell with Him for all of eternity. Hope for ourselves and hope for that girl who you think could do better. Hope for the girl that you think is too good. HOPE.

So as we step out into this spring and into this new season of life that holds its own set of challenges, be encouraged to be true to yourself. Be true to what God has called you to be and help others to do the same. He is the author of our stories, and He alone can bring us the fulfillment we all so desperately desire.

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. – John 16:33
